Thande Hotel Bagan

During our stay in Bagan, we were hosted at the fabulous and recently renovated, Thande Hotel.

Located within the old city walls of the Bagan Archaeological Zone, it’s a short 15 minute ride to the airport and less than 10 minutes to neighboring New Bagan and Nyaung Oo.

The hotel’s location is perfect! It sits right on the bank of the Ayeyarwaddy River.

The views are spectacular and a great spot for a sunset cocktail at their riverside Panorama Bar.

Since the hotel is stationed within the archaeological zone, there are many monuments within walking distance.  Right outside the hotel property there are horse cart drivers that can take you around old Bagan, to view the many pagodas, from sunrise to sunset.

The hotel offer bike rentals (bicycle and e-bikes), car hire and car service if needed.

Thande Hotel’s premises are full of lush greenery and well manicured gardens that surround the different buildings.

We stayed at a Deluxe Garden View room. It was very spacious and comfortable. The air-condition worked fabulously and was well needed after a long day of sightseeing in the scorching sun.

Our room had an outdoor sitting area facing the gardens, which was an added bonus. We enjoyed having a cup of coffee in the morning looking at the greenery and the many butterflies.

The hotel has probably one of the best restaurants in Bagan, the Prince Restaurant. The building the restaurant is located in was built in 1922 to house H.R.H. The Prince of Wales who later became King Edward VIII .

We had our first dinner in Bagan at the Prince Restaurant and it truly was memorable. The food served is fit for a King or Queen and worthy of 5 stars.

Breakfast is served alfresco, at the riverside dinning area. The menu included anything you can imagine, fresh fruit and juices, an egg station, pastries, breads and many Eastern and Western style dishes.

We had a wonderful time at Thande Hotel and would go back in a heartbeat.
