For our stay in Yangon we were hosted at the gorgeous four star Savoy Hotel Yangon.
Walking into the property is like stepping into a different era. The Savoy Hotel Yangon has a wonderful Old World feel to it but with all the modern day amenities you could possibly need.
Throughout the location the sense of Colonial Burma is evoked by outstanding interior and exterior design. The hotel has a lovely curated collection of Burmese antiques throughout the property.
The foyer and reception areas have white and black marble flooring which flows into polished teak floors.
We stayed in a handsome deluxe room with French doors that lead out to a tiny balcony overlooking the gardens. Just like the rest of the hotel, the room was decorated with traditional Myanmar antiques and lovely teak flooring.
The room was quite charming and extremely comfortable. The en-suite luxurious bathroom had an excellent stand in shower and modern amenities.
The Savoy Hotel has excellent restaurant choices.
On our first day in Yangon, we ate the famous Kipling’s hamburgers. Made with Australian beef, the burgers where absolutely delicious. The Kipling’s Restaurant offers an award winning Pan Asian Cuisine where traditional recipes from all over Southeast Asia and local organic products are combined to create mouthwatering dishes. Meals can be enjoyed at the outdoor terrace overlooking the pool or indoors with views of Shwedagon Pagoda.
The Kipling’s Restaurant is also where breakfast is served buffet style. They have a great selection of Eastern and Western choices.
Near the entrance is the popular and well-known Captain’s Bar. It’s a great spot for cocktails and snacks. They feature live music and televised sporting events.
Located by the pool, the hotel has Le Bistro. A French restaurant with a great selection of wines. Meals can be taken poolside or indoors.
The swimming pool is absolutely stunning, surrounded with wooden chaise lounge chairs and umbrellas. It is an oasis in the middle of chaotic Yangon. The perfect place to take a refreshing swim and refreshments after a long hot day of sightseeing or business meetings.
The hotel’s spa is ideal for some relaxation and rejuvenation. They offer manicures, pedicures, massages, scrubs and other types of beauty and body treatments.
The Savoy hotel is located in a bustling yet picturesque area of Yangon. It is about a 25 minute ride from the airport (depending on traffic). The Shwedagon Pagoda is close by and other attractions are a short 10 to 15 minute taxi ride. Near the hotel there are plenty of dining options, many within walking distance.
From the valet, to the receptionist, housekeeping and wait staff – everyone we interacted with was warm, welcoming, helpful and professional.
We absolutely loved our time at Savoy Hotel Yangon and highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a comfortable boutique hotel with ambiance in the center of Yangon.
